Is the Suzuki QChord still being made?
The QChord QC-1 is no longer Suzuki's current production model. This section is maintained for owners, players, collectors and repair support.

How do I play the QChord without the automatic rhythm?
Use the quick start video. It shows how to turn down the rhythm volume and set the QChord for silent chords so you can play the strumplate voice on its own.
How do I find the extra strumplate voices?
The extra voices are selected through the Melody Keyboard and Strumplate Voices controls. The extra strumplate voices video shows the route, and the quick start page includes the full 0-99 voice list.
Where can I buy QChord accessories or cartridges?
Please use the QChord shop page. Accessories and cartridge availability can change, so keeping one current page is safer than duplicating stock notes across the site.
My QChord buttons or strumplate do not respond properly. What should I do?
Stop before spraying cleaner or repeatedly forcing controls. QChords can be difficult to repair without board-level spares, and contact cleaner can make future repair harder. Check the repair symptom guide first, then contact Omnichord Heaven if you need bench advice.
Can I use any power supply?
No. Do not try random adapters as a test. The QChord uses a reverse-polarity DC supply, with the centre pin negative and the outer sleeve positive. Use the correct regulated supply and check voltage, polarity and plug fit before powering the instrument.
Do not use a QChord power supply with other equipment unless you are certain it matches that equipment. If there is battery leakage or socket damage, do not power the QChord until it has been checked.
Why does my QCard cartridge sound strange sometimes?
Switch the QChord off, insert the QCard cartridge, then switch the instrument on again. This simple power-cycle usually avoids odd playback caused by inserting a cartridge while the QChord is already running.
Why does my QRC-1 rhythm QCard cartridge not seem to work?
The QRC-1 is a rhythm style cartridge rather than a song cartridge. Press the Stop and Play buttons together to switch off the built-in rhythms, then select the rhythms from the cartridge.
How many batteries does the QChord use?
The QChord uses eight C-size batteries. Use good quality alkaline batteries, remove them when the instrument is not in use, and never power the QChord if the battery compartment shows leakage or corrosion.
How do I connect the QChord to speakers?
Use the QChord headphone/line output into an amplifier, mixer, audio interface or powered speakers. Do not connect it directly to passive speakers. Start with the QChord and speaker volumes low, then raise them gently.
Which MIDI channels are used on the QChord?
- 2: keyboard mode
- 3-8: accompaniment parts
- 9: bass
- 10: rhythm
- 14-16: strumplate voices
How should I hold the QChord when I play?
There is no single correct way. For learning, a table or desk keeps the controls steady and helps your wrists stay relaxed. Many players also rest the QChord on their lap, hold it close like an autoharp, or use a strap when standing.
If you are playing for a long time, choose a position that keeps your shoulders relaxed, your wrists comfortable and the strumplate easy to reach.
How do I know the QChord tempo in BPM?
The QChord display does not show the current tempo as a number, but the old Suzuki support chart gives a useful rough guide:
