What is an Omnichord?
The Omnichord began in 1981 as a portable electronic accompaniment instrument: choose a chord, brush the SonicStrings strumplate, and the instrument plays the matching arpeggio. It is friendly to beginners because you can follow chord names from a song sheet rather than needing keyboard technique or staff notation.
The OM-108 brings that idea back more than 40 years later. It keeps the tactile, quirky Omnichord playing style, adds modern performance options, and revives the classic OM-84 flavour with real analogue circuitry for the core Omnichord voices.
OM-108 feature guide
This section gathers the useful OM-108 information from the Suzuki page into a more permanent Omnichord Heaven reference, just below the checkout area.
108 chords
The OM-108 expands the classic chord-bank idea with sus4 and add9 options, bringing the total to 108 chord types while keeping the familiar button-based way of playing.
Voices and layers
Omni 1 and Omni 2 are designed around analogue circuitry, echoing the celebrated OM-84 tone. Main and sub voices can be blended for shimmer, thickness or a gentler backing texture.
Rhythms and controls
Rock, country, swing, disco, bossa nova and waltz sit alongside newer hip hop and funk styles. Real-time controls change chord and rhythm behaviour while playing.
Keyboard, drums and MIDI
Keyboard mode lets the chord buttons play melodies, drum-pad mode opens up hands-on beat making, and MIDI out connects the OM-108 to external sound sources.
